the fonduelike sensation drew massive lines at a pre-concert
reception for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at the Woodruff Arts
Center. People were consuming the Belgian Callebaut milk chocolate
so quickly, the vendor had a hard time keeping it flowing at a
normal rate.
"There was a
feeding frenzy," said Doug Lueder, owner of Atlanta-based Gourmet
Cafes, a caterer whose fountains have been booked almost every
weekend this summer.

Finding none in
Seattle, they sent away for one and bought it outright. After the
wedding, they began renting it out.
More recently, another local rental company, Sweet Fountains, has
sprung up.

Prices vary, but most fountains rent for $250 to $400 and feed up to 100 people. Some include an attendant to set up the fountain, arrange the foods to dip and help guests initially intimidated by the flowing chocolate.
